Main Objectives and Directions of Economic Justice of Belarus

According to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus the judiciary system of the Republic of Belarus consists of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus, courts of general jurisdiction with the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus at the head and economic courts with the Supreme Economic Court of the Republic of Belarus at the head.

Being the bodies of judicial authority, economic courts according to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus administer justice in the field of economic relations.

The Supreme Economic Court and economic courts of the regions and the city of Minsk form an independent and uniform system of economic court according to the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Judicial Organization and Status of Judges.

The economic courts are entrusted with the following tasks:

  • proper and timely examination of cases by economic courts;
     
  • protection of infringed or contested rights and legitimate interests of legal entities, individual entrepreneurs, as well as rights and legitimate interests of the Republic of Belarus, administrative and territorial units of the Republic of Belarus, state authorities, local government bodies, other bodies and officials in the indicated field, and in the cases provided for by legislative acts, of the organizations that are not legal entities and of the citizens;
     
  • promotion of law enforcement and prevention of wrong in the field of entrepreneurial and other economic activities; 
     
  • execution of court rulings established by the Code of economic procedure of the Republic of Belarus and other legislative acts on legal procedure in economic courts and acts of other agencies;

  • promotion of formation and perfection of partner business relations, creation of customs and ethics of business intercourse;

  • strengthening the authority of judiciary power.
